I love musical theatre as you know, and I saw a lot of show on Broadway, but looks like New York City is getting small for me. I want to visit London and see all the best West End musicals there. London has so many interesting shows I want to see that you can’t even imagine. And it’s not that expensive as I thought before. For example, recently I have found one web site which offers West End shows and hotel packages called "West End Theatre Breaks", and discovered a lot of interesting shows there. So let me introduce you 5 West End shows I want to see:
Oliver!
I always wanted to see a professional production of this amazing musical on Broadway or West End, but since there is no any production on Broadway, I really want to see it in London. I hear the production of the musical in West End is just amazing.
Joseph And the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Another great classic musical I want to see live. I already mentioned love to this musical in one of my previous posts. My love to musical theatre started from Andrew Lloyd Webber, and tunes of that musical will always be in my head. Especially such songs like “Any Dream Will Do” or “Prologue” or “Close Every Door”. This show closing on May 30st 2009, but I am sure there will be a lot of revival of that musical and I will see it live on stage.
Sunset Boulevard.
This musical was among first musicals that inspired me (yeah, not surprising, it’s Andrew Lloyd Webber too). I like a lot of songs from that musical, but my favorite (and I bet not only my) is “With one look”. And another song – “As if we never said goodbye” – it’s so touching and emotional that my soul flies away every time when I listen it.
We Will Rock You.
I saw this musical in St. Petersburg, Russia, in Russian language and it was exciting experience. I am sure that West End production of that musical is even much more exciting. It really rocks and I would like to watch it on West End some day!
Les Miserables.
I saw the last revival of the show on Broadway 2 times. But I want to see it also in London. I heard from some people that West End Production is much better than the last revival on Broadway. So if I liked what I saw on Broadway can’t even imagine how I will like what I will see on West End! All the time I see the musical I cry. It’s beautiful, tragic and touching story and definitely worth to see in London!
That was the list of 5 musicals I would see first in London. I hope soon my little dream will come true and I’ll be able to compare the magic of Broadway with magic of West End!
