I saw “Rock of Ages” recently and was really disappointed. I have only one question: is it joke they got nominated for Tony Awards for the best musical? A bunch of rock hits from the 80s (or somewhere from long long time ago, whatever), which is barely connected with the plot.
It’s the first show in my life I wanted to leave during the intermission ever. I even threw away my Playbill for the first time in my life. Well, I guess that’s because I was born in the 80s, but wasn’t teenager that time. So most of the songs are not familiar to me. Perhaps people over 40 who liked (and/or like now) rock music in their teens would like it, or younger folks who just like rock music of the 80s. But for me it was just a bunch of unfamiliar and extremely loud songs.
